Cotton has special growth conditions. It is a heat loving crop and has a certain demand for water, However, during the flowering (i.e. pollination) and harvest period, it is forbidden to have much rain and sunshine, so the areas with dry climate but sufficient irrigation water are most suitable for cotton planting. It can be seen that the cotton planting areas in the world are mainly concentrated in China, India, Africa, Brazil, Morocco, Australia, Pakistan, Central Asia, West Asia, the United States, Europe and so on.

In China, there are three major cotton producing areas, namely, Xinjiang cotton area, Yellow River Basin cotton area and Yangtze River Basin cotton area. In Xinjiang, the cotton yield per unit area is high, the color of raw cotton is good, and the content of “three silk – chemical fiber, silk, hemp, hair and plastic rope” is lower than that in other cotton areas. It can spin 40s – 60s yarn.
